The Innovation Team for Intelligent Design and Software of Industrial Equipment

Team introduction

The industrial software team led by Professor Guo Xu of Dalian University of Technology is committed to developing an independent and controllable integrated software system oriented to engineering and scientific computing, so as to better serve China's modernization and solve the bottleneck problem faced by national industrial software.


After years of accumulation, the team software platform SiPESC has completed more than 2 million lines of code, built multiple subsystems including system integration, structural analysis, structural topology optimization, large-scale visualization, multi-body dynamics, developed multiple multi-level dynamic substructures, symplectic DAE solutions and other characteristic algorithms, and further developed scientific research, engineering and large-scale computing.

Team leader

Professor Guo Xu: Professor of Dalian University of Technology, Director of the Department of Engineering Mechanics, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory for Structural Analysis of Industrial Equipment, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, Executive Member of the International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, member of the Mechanical Discipline Review Group of the State Council, member of the Teaching Steering Committee (Mechanics) of the Ministry of Education, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, distinguished professor of the Yangtze River Scholars, and leading talent of the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" Head of the innovation research group of NSFC. He has been engaged in the research of computational mechanics, structural optimization and solid mechanics for a long time, and has made important contributions recognized by peers at home and abroad in relevant fields. He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award twice, and the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education twice. He has also won the first prize of Natural Science of Liaoning Province, the first prize of Natural Science of the Chinese Mechanics Society, the National Innovation Prize, the Chinese Youth Science and Technology Award, the Asian Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization Achievement Award, the International Chinese Society for Computational Mechanics Achievement Award, Qian Lingxi Computational Mechanics Achievement Award and other awards.

Team R&D direction

    Basic theories and methods of structural optimization and multidisciplinary optimization, computational mechanics, solid mechanics, research and development of integrated software platform for computational mechanics, large-scale scientific computing modeling and grid generation, aerospace structural dynamics, damage and fracture simulation of structures and materials, flexible electromechanics, data-driven mechanics, mechanical problems in major equipment design, etc.


五、团队研究成果与应用领域

The team published more than 800 high-level academic papers in relevant fields, and 8 papers were cited by ESI. The team leader won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award (2006, 2019) twice for his research on the basic theory and algorithm of structural optimization.

    In the past five years, the contract amount of various scientific research projects approved totaled more than 110 million yuan, and it has undertaken two national key research and development projects, innovation groups of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Yangtze River Scholar Innovation Team of the Ministry of Education (Phase 2), the key fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, leading talents of the 10000 person plan of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee and many other scientific research projects.


    In addition, outstanding progress has been made in the fields of explicit topology optimization method and its application in major equipment development, autonomous and controllable industrial software platform, mesh generation engine, etc. Relevant theoretical research results have opened up a new research field and led the development of structural optimization discipline internationally. The keyword of achievements has become a term that peers know well about its academic connotation, and it frequently appears in journal papers and international conferences. The proposed platform+plug-in independent software platform has the characteristics of good openness, high integration and easy to face large-scale computing. Relevant research achievements have won many software copyrights.


In recent years, the relevant research achievements of the team have been successfully applied to the mesh generation and optimization design of Huawei terminal models, the design and development of a model of the First and Fifth Academy of Aerospace Engineering, and the optimization design of CRRC Qingdao Sifang passenger cars.
