Team introduction

The innovation team for Copper and special alloy of Dalian University of Technology is mainly composed of several characteristic research directions that have leading or advantageous positions in China. It is a first-class research and innovation base for solidification control and digital preparation technology of metal structures and functional materials in China, and has built an incubation base for high-tech achievements of metal materials that integrate new structures, functions and structures. Actively undertake major national basic and applied research projects, promote applied research with basic research, and provide technical support for Ningbo high-tech industry and new material industry.

Team leader

Professor Li Tingju: engineering doctor, professor of School of Materials Science and Engineering of Dalian University of Technology, doctoral supervisor, and selected into the trans century talent training program of the Ministry of Education. He is a member of the Discipline Evaluation Group of the Fifth Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, a member of the Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of Liaoning Province, a professional discipline member of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, and a deputy director of the Branch of Electromagnetic Metallurgy and High Magnetic Field Materials of the Chinese Society of Metals. He has been engaged in research on metal solidification control, continuous casting and application of electromagnetic field in material preparation for a long time.


In recent years, he has undertaken and participated in more than 40 national, provincial, municipal and enterprise scientific research projects, won 6 provincial and ministerial level awards, more than 30 invention patents, and published more than 200 papers. In 1997, he won the Paper Award of the Japan Iron and Steel Association, in 1999, he won the "Remarkable Invention" award of the Minister of State of Japan and the Chief of the Department of Science and Technology of Japan, the second prize of technological invention of Liaoning Province in 2004, the second prize of science and technology of Zhejiang Province in 2006, the first prize of science and technology of China's nonferrous metal industry in 2012, the first prize of technological invention of the Ministry of Education in 2014, the second prize of national technological invention and the Chinese excellent patent award in 2015, In 2016, he won the gold medal of the Geneva International Invention Exhibition, and in 2017, he was honored as an outstanding scientific and technological worker in Liaoning Province.

Team R&D direction

The team takes the electromagnetic control technology of metal solidification process as the main line of research, and takes the in-situ visualization technology based on synchrotron radiation as the characteristic research means, covering the continuous casting process of non-ferrous alloy plates, strips, tubes and billets under the action of physical fields (electromagnetic field, ultrasonic field, pulsed electric field, etc.), the formation mechanism and preparation of composite/clad materials (metal to metal, metal to ceramic, etc.) interfaces, metal purification and purification In situ visualization of metal solidification process, interface theory and fine-grained technology of heterogeneous nucleation in alloy solidification, high entropy alloy design theory and bulk preparation technology, shape control technology of intermetallic compounds, doping design and solidification synthesis of thermoelectric materials, etc.

Team research achievements and application fields

The team leader combines solidification electromagnetic control with basic research of synchrotron radiation. Relying on the National Science Facility Shanghai Light Source and Beijing Light Source, he is the first person in academia to apply synchrotron radiation in situ visualization technology to research the dynamic mechanism of metal solidification electromagnetic field control. The team won one second prize of the National Technological Invention Award, two first prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, two second prizes, one Chinese Patent Excellence Award, and one gold medal of the Geneva International Invention Exhibition. The team has undertaken 1 national key research and development program, 2 national key research and development programs, more than 10 national key research and development programs, 1 major instrument development program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars Fund, 2 National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, and more than 20 general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Characteristic technology 1: In situ visualization method and device for alloy solidification (ZL201110438895.3)




Aiming at the problem of "black box" in casting solidification, a new method of in-situ visualization of synchrotron radiation X-ray under electromagnetic control was proposed, which realized in-situ observation and real-time imaging of alloy solidification behavior under electromagnetic control.

Characteristic technology 2: Non vacuum CuCrZr alloy round billet horizontal electromagnetic continuous casting technology (ZL201110286393.3)


The first horizontal electromagnetic continuous casting production line of CuCrZr alloy in the world has been established by electromagnetic induction "explosive" nucleation and controlling solidification structure and cracks. The defect free round billet with a diameter of 87mm, a length of 50m and a weight of 2.6t has been continuously cast under non vacuum.
