The Innovation Team for Marine Equipment Strength Analysis and Design

Team introduction

    Committed to the "blue faith" of building a marine power, the team has long been dedicated to research in the fields of offshore engineering structure monitoring, offshore flexible pipe and cable structure design and verification, offshore pipe and cable installation, operation and maintenance, and the processing and manufacturing of ancillary components. The team has solved a series of neck-choking technical problems, and made positive contributions to the national marine equipment design, manufacturing, and safety assurance.

Team leader

Professor Yan Jun: Professor of the Department of Engineering Mechanics of Dalian University of Technology, doctoral supervisor, national talent, and deputy director of the Department of Engineering Mechanics. Vice Chairman of Liaoning Mechanical Society, member of the Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Working Committee of the Chinese Mechanical Society, and member of the Education Working Committee, responsible for four National Natural Science Foundation projects, including two national key research and development projects and two 863 program projects in the key category, and one provincial key research and development project. He published more than 100 papers, 41 of which were retrieved by SCI, cited more than 600 times, and was granted 8 invention patents. He has been selected into the Liaoning Provincial Innovative Talents Support Plan for Colleges and Universities, the Liaoning Provincial Outstanding Young Scholars Growth Plan for Colleges and Universities, and the "Hundred Thousand Talents Project" in Liaoning Province. He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Mechanical Society, the first prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the second prize of marine science and technology and other important academic awards.

Team R&D direction

The team leader and members have long been committed to the research in the fields of offshore engineering structure monitoring, offshore flexible pipe and cable structure design and verification, offshore pipe and cable installation, operation and maintenance, and the processing and manufacturing of ancillary components. Their expertise lies in the modern theory and calculation methods of structural optimization, materials and structural performance in special environments. They have also engaged in fundamental research in computational mechanics, material mechanics and structural mechanics. The team has built a solid research foundation and realized several achievements in offshore engineering and software development, as well as efficient industrial structure test equipment and new test equipment developed for offshore engineering applications. The team performs cutting-edge research works around the key issues of strength analysis and innovative design of marine equipment, which has inter-disciplinary contributions and integration advantages.

Team research achievements and application fields

    The team has published more than 100 papers in domestic and foreign academic journals, including more than 50 SCI papers and more than 100 EI papers. The papers have been cited for more than 1100 times, and other papers have been cited for more than 550 times by SCI. The team has been granted more than 20 invention patents, coauthored an independent chapter of an English monograph and published a textbook.


    In the past five years, the total amount of contract of various scientific research projects granted is about 20 million Yuan, and the team has undertaken a number of scientific research projects such as national key research and development plans, joint funds of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and overseas cooperation funds. Relevant research achievements won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2019, the first prize of the Chinese Mechanical Natural Science Award, the first prize of the outstanding scientific research achievements award (natural science) of colleges and universities, and the second prize of the Marine Science and Technology Award (natural science).


    The team has cooperated with well-known scientific research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad on scientific research projects in many fields such as structural design, strength analysis, software development and real-time monitoring of offshore flexible pipes and cables. Representative achievements are as follows:

Research achievement 1: key mechanical analysis of offshore flexible composite pipe and cable structures
